Tell-A-Vision Program Invites CEO Alberto to Speak at His Old High School

On December 20, 2021, our founder and CEO was asked to come and speak to a group of students at Long Branch High School, where Alberto attended for 4 years and graduated from, to share his story. Tell-A-Vision is an after school youth program catered to mentoring youth who may have be having a harder time finding programs that speak to their unique experiences. Founded by LBHS teacher and coach, Chad King, along with LBHS graduate and fellow coach, Raul Rivera, and fellow staff member Tiriq Rashad, this program gives youths of Alberto’s hometown of Long Branch an opportunity to be heard and to hear from Long Branch graduates who have found success outside of the halls through tougher paths & unconventional means. Alberto opened up to over 50 students and staff, not just about his fight with childhood cancer, but as well about his grueling struggles with depression and dependency on pain killers as a teenager and adult. “Whenever I am asked to speak about my experiences, I always want to make sure that nothing is left out. Mines is not a simple story of trial & triumph, but of multiple failures and wrong decisions that led to consequences in which I had to pay for. I want everyone to feel every bit of my disappointments so that they can share in and relate to my victories. I want these kids to know that they are not alone.” The motto of “Real Talk, No Cap” adopted by the Tell-A-Vision program is one in which our founder, Alberto, believes in.
